This performative lecture centres on Gabriela Zuarez’s choreographic trajectory, highlighting her collaboration with different dancing groups whithin the theatre Sur Mundo Ensemble during the last years, when the series of residencies and laboratories culminated iconically in different stage presentations. As a corollary to this period, the short dance film Lapso de Fuga was created, which is actually part of Sur Mundo Ensemble’s repertoire.
The lecture reflects on the construction of tango as a contemporary art expression. Its focus on the Tango dance as a movement language and analyses the aesthetics of theatre making while foregrounding the importance of a radical decolonial perspective. Additional topics include the choreographic process, the cultural syntheses—hybridization and diaspora—essential in the contemporary performance. (Extract)
