If you are inspired to join Sur Mundo Ensemble in 2023, we’d love to hear from you! Whether it’s for a long or short-term residence. The company’s heart is the crosscultural choreographic practice. Our artistic team is open to motivated dancers, performers, musicians, and tanguerxs, with a strong will to learn, share, develop, and become an artistic community with us.
Being an artist in residence is a great way to refine your existing skill sets, and also learn completely new skills and approaches in a supportive environment of highly skilled and professional performers dancers and musicians. Dance research residency for the choreographic and dramaturgical development of the new performance project titled [Ultima Cena] led by dramaturge Gabriela Zuarez and the Sur Mundo Ensemble team. During this residency, the ensemble will explore and work on a specific theme for a new interdisciplinary creation involving a collective process in the dance, music, Tango and visuals.
The ensemble aims to translate this process into a concept for performance-in-progress, which will be performed at Perdu Theatre Amsterdam on the 7th and 8th of October.
The proposal pursues the identity of the Tango as a contemporary dance language as such, and the systematization of choreographic paradigms. It aims to construct an innovative performative aesthetic caring for the theatre community.
The sharing of knowledge action is the key to the ensemble’s residency through the organization of in-house learning and training activities guided by the artistic team.There are three open calls for applications as part of the internal activities leading up to the Sur Mundo Ensemble residency.
The company works on a professional level and in an eclectic manner and with eclectic groups. In the 2023 residency we are also recruiting resident musicians and scholars to participation.

Fee: candidates must take into account that there is contribution for participation. That would vary of their condition as professionals or scholars

*The two In-House Workshops-Lab, are primarily intended for students or interns of the BA/ MA Dance/ Music/ Theatre education. Professional dancers, Social and Tango dancers, as well musicians interested in entering an artistic collaboration are very welcome as well to join the Sur Mundo Ensemble’s In-House Workshops. There are no age boundaries or backgrounds for those wishing to apply.
** The In-House Exploratory Dramaturgy Lab is full time and it is meant and have completed the In-house Workshops-Lab for dance or music.
